the CEDAR SCHOOl

for responsible, learned, ethical future citizens

THE STORY

As Cedar College grew, it worked towards building a new campus in Karachi this time for lower and upper secondary grades. Known as the O-level campus, this school started on the right foot in terms of leadership - promising research based solutions and practices throughout its departments and functions.

WHAT WE DID

Expanding from the Cedar parent brand, we quickly set up the brand’s identity and works. Initially, there were rigorous brainstorm sessions where team Backspace shared ideas to help the management innovate, and to break away from mindless schooling routines and archaic assessment systems.

WHAT STOOD OUT

Disrupting educational approach, especially ones that are based on academics alone, is close to the heart at Backspace. Cedar School management requested a new take on assessments - the flip side of the report card was born as a result of this endeavour. It listed academics as ONE of the criteria, and established social emotional learning and character building skills as equally valuable for a child’s development.

WHAT’S NEXT

In the ‘new normal’ the Cedar experience evolved to accomodate learner needs. They hosted an edtech conference and incorporated tools like IXL to minimize loss of learning. Backspace enabled the in-house team to utilise social networks on various digital platforms through strategy sessions and also trained the content creation department to do its own story-telling.
